Automotive

Are you interested in learning more about internal combustion engines and automotive careers? During the Automotive Summer Program at GateWay Community College, you will earn three college credits for AUT101, Internal Combustion Engines Theory. You will explore career opportunities in the automotive industry and learn about GateWay’s partnerships with Toyota, Honda, and Nissan. BioScience

Are you interested in learning about DNA, chemically processing DNA samples, solving scientific problems in a bioscience laboratory, performing forensic tests, identifying career opportunities and future employment needs in the field, visiting a state of the art bioscience research facility, and at the same time becoming part of the community college campus? South Mountain Community College and Western Maricopa Tech Prep Consortium have partnered to offer Introduction to Biotechnology, a four-credit course for the . BioScience Summer Program. Business

Are you interested in learning more about the differences between doing business locally and internationally, how cultural differences affect business practices, about outsourcing, about research techniques using the internet, and about identifying career opportunities and future employment needs as you become a part of the community college environment? The International Business Summer Camp will provide you with an overview of international business issues that influence global business practices and decisions as well as exploration into international management, marketing, finance, and accounting careers. Paradise Valley Community College and Western Maricopa Tech Prep Consortium have partnered to offer the International Business Summer Camp for three college credits. Construction

Are you interested in working alongside construction industry professionals, receiving hands-on training, participating in industry tours, earning an OSHA 10-hour certificate and receiving both college and high school credit at the same time? Be part of an exciting career and building America’s future! The opportunities are limitless—construction, construction management, architecture, engineering—you name it. The sponsoring construction companies and contractors will interview qualified students who complete the one-week program for participation in paid summer internships. The Future Builders Academy, held at GateWay Community College, is sponsored by the Arizona Partnership for Construction Careers, East Valley Tech Prep and Western Maricopa Tech Prep Consortium. Culinary

Are you interested in a career in the food service industry and expanding your knowledge about yeast breads and doughnuts, homemade fresh pasta dishes, fruit and vegetable garnishes, salads, and cake assembly? Culinary Camp is a summer program offered through a partnership between Estrella Mountain Community College and Western Maricopa Tech Prep Consortium. Menu Planning is offered for two college credits. The camp culminates with an ice carving demonstration and the production of a luncheon buffet attended by high school and college educators, as well as community members. Students interested in culinary studies are encouraged to apply for one of the sessions. The course is offered at no cost to eligible students. Healthcare

Are you considering a career in healthcare? Apply for the Healthcare Summer Program. You will earn three college credits for HCC130, Fundamentals in Healthcare Delivery, and learn about the unique healthcare programs in Medical Radiography, Physical Therapist Assisting, Medical Transcription, Respiratory Care, Nuclear Medicine Technology, and Surgical Technology offered at GateWay Community College.

Sports Medicine and Nutrition - Pending

Are you interested in interacting with professionals in the areas of fitness, clinical exercise physiology, sports performance, clinical nutrition, sports nutrition, sports medicine, and athletic training? You will explore the many professional job opportunities in the fields of exercise, sports performance, nutrition, and medicine through guest speakers, field trips, faculty presentations, and a personal job research project to learn about the academic requirements and professional steps needed to attain a specific job in the field. Sports Medicine and Nutrition, a four-credit Summer Program is offered at Glendale Community College in partnership with Western Maricopa Tech Prep Consortium. Water Resources

Are you interested in environmental issues? Does Arizona have enough water to sustain future growth? Is our current supply healthy? Study these questions and other environmental issues in the Water Resources Summer Program at GateWay Community College. Participate in daily field trips while you earn four college credits for WRT101, Introduction to Hydrology Field Experiences. This program is funded by East Valley Tech Prep and Western Maricopa Tech Prep Consortium and offered at no cost to eligible students. 2008 Application
